The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has new powers and has already used them to impose heavy fines on organisations that breach the Data Protection Act. The financial penalties can be severe, up to £500,000 and damage to reputation can be even more harmful. Information security is a priority no organisation can afford to ignore.

Employee negligence is the single highest cause of data security breaches and in many organisations there is a significant gap between an excellent security policy and the implementation of that policy. No-one is immune from the threat of data loss or breaches but effective staff training can massively reduce the risk.
